Make calling the easiest thing on the page
Many customers, especially for local services, would rather call than fill in a form. On a phone that should take one tap. If they have to scroll to the footer, memorise a number and type it into the dialler, some will give up and try someone else who made it easier.
A tap to call button is simple to add. On a website, a phone number can be written as a special link that opens the phone's dialler with the number ready to go. Most website builders have a setting for it, and any developer can add it in minutes. Once it is in place, test it on your own phone to make sure it dials the right number.
Placement matters. Put the number where people look first, at the top of the page, and keep it there on every page. On mobile, a header that stays visible as people scroll, or a clear call button near the top, means the option is always within reach. Repeat it near the end of key pages, where people have just finished reading and are ready to act.
Make it look like something you can press. A clear button with the word Call and the number is easier to spot than a line of small text. Make sure it is big enough to tap comfortably and has good contrast against the background.
Consistency builds trust. Use the same number on your website as on your Google Business Profile and your other listings. A different number in each place confuses customers and can make Google less sure about your details.
Then try the test from the video. Open your site on your phone and see whether you can call in one tap. If you cannot, that is a quick, worthwhile fix, and one of the simplest ways to stop losing customers who were already ready to call.
